Broadsheet simulates old newspaper text from the 1700s, chiefly from two specimens: an original copy of The New-England Weekly Journal, published in Boston on April 8, 1728, and a commemorative reprint of the Massachusetts Sun, published in Worcester, Mass., on May 3, 1775 (including an account of the Battle of Lexington). Broadsheet is somewhat dark and lumpy, in keeping with print jobs of the period. Works well in long text blocks or in display situations to suggest historical printed matter. Broadsheet has two styles, a roman and a true italic, each with a full complement of "long s" and other ligatures, along with a couple of printer's flourishes. The OpenType release adds true small capitals, old-style and lining figures, numerous ligatures, and Central/Eastern European characters.
